1. Desired outcome equals good energy is greater than bad energy.
2. Religion is a great institution. Especially for raising children.
Ok now that I established these formulas. Lets discuss formula number one.
The issue here is whether our religious leaders are creating good energy while they teach and preach to us.
What is the message they are trying to convey? Could it be that I ( the spiritual leader) am going to heaven while you are going to hell. I have the ticket to heaven and you do not. That is how I interpret it.
Lets take this another step further. I know you are afraid of death so that is why you are here. But do not worry
I will talk to god for you if you are good.
Now knowing this one is susceptible to many things. For example being taken advantage of by being forced to contribute money to the religious institution. Ok, I am contributing money now I have a better chance to go to heaven. Sounds logical. This is abuse of power. You might not see it but it is there.
The religious leader plays the part of god. We believe in him, at times so much that we put complete trust in him or her with our children. And look at the outcome of this. A startling amount of stories concerning sexual abuse to children.
However I believe in religious institutions, no matter what they are. They teach our children morals, values and ethics. They help keep the family together. They keep tradition with generations of families.
The theory of the religious institutions is great, But too many times there is an abuse of power.
For example. I am a working musician. That has to work 7 days a week, One day I had a double shift on a Saturday. So I had to set up my equipment at a synagogue early during the day so I could make the second job in time, While setting up a rabbi entered the catering hall and informed me that I could not setup my equipment because it was the sabbath.
Here is the point. The rabbi was working that day, He was making money that day, Now what authority does he have to tell me I can not make a living? the hypocrisy.
So what is his real objective, To show he has authority over me and I should be afraid of him .
I told him I am setting up and leave me do my work.
Case closed. I did not go to hell, I did not suffer any bad illness after.
My point is that we have to question this notion that I have power over you.
Do not let anyone intimidate you. That is their main objective to scare you into donating to their cause.
In conclusion, I believe in god and prayer, and in christian principles. We have to get back to being a more spiritual nation but at the same time keep a careful eye on our religious leaders.
